Managing scene materials with Material Explorer

- [Instructor] In scenes with many materials and maps, the material explorer can come in handy. It's a version of the scene explorer focused on materials. It allows us to browse, analyze, and assign materials in the scene. It's found in the rendering menu, material explorer. By default, the material explorer displays thumbnails. And these can be somewhat slow to render, so if you're having performance issues, you can disable thumbnails from this display toolbar on the left side. You can turn off display thumbnails here for this top panel, which is the scene panel, and also for the bottom panel, which is the material panel and the menu there, we can choose to display thumbnails or not. All right, I'll turn the thumbnails back on in both panels. The C panel shows steam materials only, that is materials that are assigned to objects currently.
