Join Adam Crespi for an in-depth discussion in this video Making glass and tile sparkle and shine, part of 3ds Max: Rendering Interiors.
…Glass is another chameleon material in a scene.…It's one of those things that, can take on all kinds of different…looks, from totally clear and transparent, through tinted or even opaque and smoky.…For this scene, we need two different types of glass.…A reeded glass for the double doors in this view.…And a solid glass for the panels forming the railing on the bridge.…We also need a glossy tile for that tile wall.…And finally, a polished terrazzo, while not…exclusively glass, is still a very glossy surface.…
I'll pull up my Slate Material Editor.…Pressing M again, and scrub over to a clean space in view one.…While I'm here, I'll hide all of the unused maps for my metals by…pressing H, and then make in a clear space, a new arc and design.…I'll double-click on this, and name it glass clear.…I need two different clear glasses here actually, one for…the windows, and one for that solid glass on those railings.…I'll call this glass clear, solid, or glass clear panel.…
And that way I know it's going to…be a solid panel versus a single thickness polygon.…
