- [Illustrator] Having already taken a look then at V-Ray proxies what we want to do in this exercise is examine yet another tool that has been added to V-Ray in recent times, in order to help us render extremely high polygon count scenes this being the V-Ray instance that was added in the V-Ray 3.1 update. To demonstrate what this can do for us, and to show the basics of how we might go about using it we have a stance scene here with a simple landscape set up that we want to scatter some trees on. The problem if I just select the hillside terrain and then jump into the utilities tab and hit the measure button being that we're looking at a surface area of about 1.2 square kilometers here. Which is going to need a lot of trees adding in order to get decent coverage and lots of trees of course also equal lots of polygons.
