Importing CAD models

- 3D Studio Max really is an excellent choice for product visualization of computer aided design models because of its excellent support of CAD models and various formats. We're going to import a step file that was provided by a colleague, Justin Flett, a current instructor here at LinkedIn. So lets bring that in. Go to the file menu and choose Import, Import. And we're taken to our current project import folder. And here is the step file. Now I've asked Justin to convert to step for maximum compatibility, but if we go into file of type down here and all formats and choose that pull down list that there are many native file formats supported. For example Catia, or SolidWorks, which is the application in which this drone model was actually created. If you have any issue with the importing of CAD files in their native format, then you can simply convert to a step file in your CAD program. Save it out as a step and 3D Studio…
