Learn how to interactively create polygon branching structures in 3ds Max.
- [Instructor] The freeform tab in the modeling ribbon…has another cool fun tool called branches that lets us…draw curved extruded branches in the view port.…And of course we'll work only on editable poly objects…like this one.…I'll select the object and go to the modify panel just…to show you that it is an editable poly object.…Open up the ribbon and go to the freeform tab and we've…got branches, click on that.…Just click and drag on any polygon and you'll create…branches in the view port.…
We can click on a newly made branch and draw another…branch, but notice that I might get some strange results…if I just do that without really thinking about it first.…And that's because the branches tool is view dependent.…And we need to be conscious of that as we draw,…so I'll undo that with Control Z and in order to draw…straight up or perpendicular to this surface, I need…to set my view so that I'm looking at those polygons…edge on.…
So this makes it a little bit more difficult to work with,…if you're trying to draw straight lines or trying to draw…
