Let's browse the RealFlow interface…and get familiar with some of its most important panels.…Of course, here we've got the viewport panel,…which is where we can view and manipulate…objects in our 3d world.…Up at the top, we've got the shelf.…And you'll see, of course, that there are…multiple items on each shelf organized by category.…Most of the items on these shelves…are not available from the menus; they're unique.…If you want to create objects,…you have to do it from this geometry shelf.…
For example I can create a sphere,…just click to create that sphere,…and maybe grab the move tool and move it around.…So that's the shelf.…Then, you've got the relationship editor here.…This is basically a scene graph…that tells you how all the different elements,…or nodes, of your scene are connected.…Then, above the relationship editor,…we have two very important panels:…the nodes panel, and the node parameters panel.…Nodes refers to the objects in your scene,…and this corresponds to Maya's outliner…or 3ds Max's scene explorer.…

You'll learn how to create small-scale effects with standard particles, create free-flowing water effects with the Hybrido solver, and simulate open bodies of water such as oceans and ponds with RealWave. Author Aaron F. Ross also shows how to control interactions between objects and fluids with Caronte, the rigid- and soft-body physics engine included with RealFlow.
- Understanding the RealFlow pipeline
- Importing scenes from other 3D programs
- Emitting standard particles
- Caching data
- Simulating a Hybrido fluid
- Creating a Caronte rigid body
- Converting particles and fluids to mesh
- Exporting scenes
- Rendering with mental ray
