- When needing to add a little bit of break up…and visual interest to a metal material,…there are a couple of simple options open to us.…In this version of our start scene,…we have added a copper type metal…to our large bowl here.…One that has been created using…the same basic approach as our generic chrome…from the previous exercise.…The only significant difference being…that the Fresnel IOR value…has been set at 15 and not 20.…A quick render at this point reveals…that we have a highly reflective object…that has no break up in the reflections whatsoever.…
We can change that very quickly, of course,…by opening up the Material Editor,…and accessing the Copper Materials parameters…from the Metals tab.…In here, if I just drop the Reflection…glossiness value down to say 0.9,…you can see if I take a region render,…just how easy it is to add reflection break up.…Whilst that change does create…a somewhat different look to the reflections,…we haven't really added anything…particularly unique to the look of the material.…
