Join Joel Bradley for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding depth of field, part of Rendering for Composites inside 3ds Max.
The ability to add realistic camera effects…to random footage is of course…one of the great benefits that can come…from using a rendering for compositing workflow.…And so in this video, we are going to take a look…at how we can use our Z-depth element…to quickly and easily add a depth of field…effect to our render and then we are going to use it…to make some very specific, artistic, compositional choices…regarding how our final piece will look.…
In the main elements comp of our 05_04 stats…after effects project then let's set the time line…to frame 195 and add a new adjustment layer…to the top of the layer stack.…Once it is in there, we can right click on it…and rename it, calling it DOF for depth of field.…With the adjustment layer selected,…let's in the effects and presets panel,…filter for the word, camera.…
And then, add the camera lens blur effect…to our depth of field layer.…To clearly see how the blur effect is working,…let's exaggerate things quite a bit…by setting the blur radius to a value of 20…which will have the added bonus of showing us…
