Now, let's pick out a design that is ready for 3D printing. When we're using the Explore function in MakerBot Desktop, we're accessing Thingiverse, which is an online community site for sharing 3D files. There are thousands of users uploading their designs, but it's important to know that not all of them are tested and appropriate for 3D printing. So let's look for one that is. When I'm looking for a 3D printable design, there are three things that I look for. First, designs that have been printed before, this is good evidence that they'll print well again. Second, look for objects with flat bottoms, these are easier to print. Third, avoid designs with overhangs or very small features. Explore the site and look for something that appeals to you. Choose Explore in the toolbar, and choose Things. Then, sort by Popular and narrow it down to a category that you're interested in.
