- [Instructor] If you're familiar with the Disney book, The Illusion of Life, which is written by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston many years ago, you will have encountered the 12 principle of animation. And many of us use these as a great way to break down the core principles of animation. Let's zoom in a little bit on the list. So as you can see we have the 12 principles, and at the bottom we have appeal. Now this is where I disagree with the ordering because the Disney attitude is that if you are putting appeal at the bottom, I think it implies that if you master steps one through 11, you know, appeal will somehow emerge from these. This is how I interpret it. Because appeal is a nebulous principle. So it's kind of frustrating when you're trying to get a drawing that's appealing. So I would put appeal at the top because I think it's separate to, or even superior to the other 11 factors in this list.
