Using USD files in Unreal
- [George] Hi I'm George Mastrey. Today we're going to take a look at how to use Unreal's new USD plug in. Now USD is what's called universal scene description and it allows you to create hierarchical files. In other words, it allows you to create files that reference other files and so, replacing assets and moving assets around becomes a lot easier. So the first thing you need to do is load the USD plugin, now I'm in Unreal 4.24, you need to be in that level or higher. Now we can load the plugin under edit, plugins, and then we should be able to search for USD. Now, if you don't find it, no worries, you should be able to find it under the importer so let's scroll down to importers, and again, if we want to, we can just go to the bottom and there it is, but if you wanted to, you could type USD into that, find it, let's go ahead and enable it. Now if this is the first time you've enabled USD, it will ask you to reboot…
