Use capsule shadows on large objects
- [George] Hi, I'm George Maestri and we're going to go a little bit deeper into shadows by attaching capsule shadows to an object. Now, if you're familiar with capsule shadows they're usually used for characters to create a drop shadow that is very efficient. Now, we can also use this for objects such as this car. So imagine if we had this car, or a lot of different cars, in traffic. You could create capsule shadows to do drop shadows without too much overhead. Now, in order to do capsule shadows, you do need to have a skeleton on your object. So here I have this object that is in 3ds Max. Now, you can use whatever software you want. But this particular object does have a bone chain or a joint chain embedded inside of it. And the actual car itself is skinned to that joint chain. Now remember, capsule shadows are normally aimed at characters. So we need to make this look kind of like a character, which means we have to…
