- [George] Hi I'm George Maistry, if you've every wanted to do plants or other types of foliage, you'll probably want to learn about Unreal's foliage material. So let's take a look at this. Now I have two ferns here and they look okay for what we have but if we turn them around you can see that when the light filters in from behind, we're really not getting a realistic effect. So we're getting this kind of matte effect and that's because we have very simple materials on it. The foliage material has what's called sub-surface scattering which allows light to filter through the object. And this is great for things like leaves and that sort of thing. So let's take a look at these particular objects. Right now they're identical. So we have Fern A and Fern B.
