Join Dermot O' Connor for an in-depth discussion in this video Relationships matter, part of 2D Animation: Tips and Tricks.
- [Instructor] A really easy thing that we should all know…is be nice to people, and you'd be surprised, you know,…when you meet people who are professionally unpleasant…and I want to tell you the story of the chap on the right,…on the left, rather, who's based on a real person…who spent the bulk of his career during the '80s and '90s…being really, really, abusive, emotionally abusive…to all the people who were beneath him…in the production hierarchy, and then something happened.…The 2D animation industry basically collapsed…and was replaced by CGI, and he was a traditional animator…and he wasn't able to make the transition…because he was too inflexible, whatever.…
So the amount of jobs that were still available,…it wasn't zero, but it was beginning to shrink.…All of the people that were formerly his little underlings…here in blue, they got promoted and their careers went up,…and now he can't get work,…and it's like one of these morality tales…that you would almost think is made up…but he literally cannot get work…

8/9/2016One way to learn animation is an all-in-one course, the kind you can find here in our library. The other path is on-the-job training, and involves picking up tips and tricks as you work. This course will give you that "on the job" experience in weekly doses. Every Tuesday, author Dermot O' Connor reveals a tip or trick that animation professionals use to save time and create more compelling characters. Learn to use delays, overshoots, and leading gestures to create looser, more realistic movement; draw different mouth shapes for male and female characters; create different styles of walks such as staggers; and more.
Note: Because this is an ongoing series, viewers will not receive a certificate of completion.Skill Level Intermediate

Q: Why can't I earn a Certificate of Completion for this course?
A: We publish a new tutorial or tutorials for this course on a regular basis. We are unable to offer a Certificate of Completion because it is an ever-evolving course that is not designed to be completed. Check back often for new movies.
