- [Instructor] When it comes to…terminology with virtual reality,…as well as augmented reality, there are certain terms…that you'll see thrown around quite a bit.…Some of these terms are more important than others…and one of these, as an example,…is the term of refresh rate.…And specifically we'll look at refresh rate…and its importance with virtual reality…and a lot of this that I'm saying here…is applicable to augmented reality here as well,…so we'll look at the importance of refresh rate,…what it is and why it's so important…for a successful VR project.…So refresh rate in VR.…
Refresh rate really is in basics here…the number of times per second…that a display updates the image, its display buffer.…So this can translate into what we often see…as expressed in hertz or HZ or H zed…so this translates literally to something like…times per second here so if we had 60 hertz for example,…you would have 60 frames per second or FPS.…So in this case here what we typically want to aim for…for the VR comfort is the minimum of 90 hertz…
