Import real-world terrain into Unreal
- [Instructor] Hi, I'm George Maestri. Today we're going to take a look at terrain and how to bring in real-world terrain into Unreal. Now the first thing you need to get is some real-world terrain. And one of my favorite sites on the internet is called OpenTopography.org, and this has topological data for basically the whole planet. Now we can get to this data by going into the Find Data option under the Data tab on the main website. And this allows you to basically just go wherever you want and select whatever you want. So I'm going to go my home state of California, and right off the coast of Los Angeles and Long Beach is a little island called Catalina. And so I'm going to go ahead and find that, and we're going to select that as a region, and then we're going to download that data. Now the site has a number of different datasets, and if we scroll down, you'll see we have global datasets, and there's three main ones. The one we're looking for is Shuttle Radar Topography Mission…
