- [Instructor] It's easy to overlook something as fundamental as the center of mass, where the weight is. And in the two objects at the left, it's fairly simple. The ball center of mass is in the middle. The wood, unless it's strange wood, has the center of mass in the middle. Hammer, no the hammer center of mass will be, depending on how heavy this end is, it'll be somewhere around here. It could be there, it could be here. But if you put your center of mass roughly in this area, you won't be far wrong. So here we've marked them out, something like that. So if we throw the ball across the screen, a nice arc path, a little bit of a slowing at the top, and slow out, nothing wrong with that, perfectly normal. And there you can see there's our arc path marked out in red dots with the cross representing the center of mass. Notice that the wood spins around at the center of mass. Now that we have something that's longitudinal, it's longer than it is wide, we can actually see this. We…
