Arranging the herringbone pattern - Substance Designer Tutorial
From the course: Substance Designer for Architectural Visualization
Arranging the herringbone pattern
- In this exercise we'll get the color and then use the herringbone to work with into that herringbone pattern. I'll start by getting a gradient map node in here in my UmbraVeil graph. As you can see, the 3D view is reflecting whatever I had open last, in that case the herringbone. As the name suggests, this map's a gradient on to some kind of grayscale. I'll open up the 2D view a little bit. Double click on that bitmap and then pick the gradient map node. I'll click on the gradient editor, slide it over a little bit to make a little space and click pick gradient. Now, what I'll do is drag the line across, catching most of the colors on that bitmap. In our gradient map node then, we pick a gradient- It puts in keys onto that gradient, sampling from the color in that dragged line. We can use our precision then to increase or decrease the amount of keys in there. Upping the precision gives us more keys. Lowering it, reduces the number of gradient keys so we get smoother colors. I'll…
