Animating tails

- [Instructor] One problem a lot of people have is animating a really nice, rich, secondary action, so if a character has like long, flowing garments or a big tail or long hair, how do you animate that so it looks nice and fluid and it doesn't stick or jam? So in this case we have a figure going into a nice little squash in a jump. So if we look at the full sequence of animation with all the breakdowns added, we have our little breakdown scenes here. So it's a fairly intricate action and you can see there the timing numbers at the bottom. So how do you go about adding, say, a squirrel tail to this action? So we could take a top-down approach and, you know, plan it out from that level and figuring out where the tail should go, and this is definitely one way to do it. The problem with doing it like this is you really have to know your timing and the spacing so the tail doesn't stick anywhere. It will suit a certain temperament, and this is a great option, this is a great way of doing…
