- [Instructor] Let me show you how I used thumbnails to plan tricky actions. In this example, I wanted to move a character from a standing position into a walk, take two steps, and then stop. Well, the first thing that I did, was to roughen the contact poses and establish whether or not the end pose was far enough to be reached in two steps. Obviously, the fewer, the better. More steps, more work. So, just about, it was able to reach. I knew that immediately, it's a full stride. Had they been further apart, I could have added more steps, as we have in this more finished example, and again, all planned out with thumbnails, so I knew the exact number of steps, so I didn't overshoot or undershoot the final distance. Here's a more elaborate example of a walk scene, planned in thumbnail form, with each contact pose determined before a single animation drawing is done.
