Join Mike Meyers for an in-depth discussion in this video Basic partitioning, part of CompTIA A+ Exam Prep (220-902) Part 2: Putting Pieces Together.
- Now in this episode we're gonna go ahead…and start doing partitioning.…But in this episode we're gonna be doing old school…what I call basic partitioning or more technically…correct would probably be called MBR partitioning.…Now if you watched previous episodes you know that we have…a maximum of four partitions for one single drive…so what I want us to do is keep that in mind…and let's go ahead and start doing…some partitioning old school.…Now if you take a look here, what I've got is…a single hard drive plugged in and ready to go.…
It is completely, if you see the word unallocated,…that means it's not set up in any way shape or form…and it's fresh from the factory and it's time for us…to go ahead and start partitioning.…So what I'm gonna do is right click in this area right here.…Now you're going to see I have a lot of other options.…Spanned, striped, mirrored, I want you to pretend…that that's not even there yet.…What I want to concentrate on are what I call…and what everybody else calls regular volumes…
In Part 2, Mike Meyers helps you understand all the pieces that comprise the modern computer: RAM, power supplies, hard drives, and peripherals. Though 220-902 focuses on operating systems and software, a solid foundation in hardware will help you understand how all the pieces fit together. In Chapter 5, Mike shows how to build a basic PC, and install a fresh copy of Windows.
