Prepping the model

Solidworks has the ability to add material properties to parts while they are being designed. By adding in materials, we can get useful information like the mass of a part, we can run an FEA analysis using this material properties. However, we also get visual aspects of the material. Like color, texture and lighting characteristics. Additionally, we can add finishes to the part to change the look. All of these are very handy while working in Solidworks however as soon as we start up the PhotoView 360 application these become the surfaces that are rendered. Within Solidworks we can add in finishes on the part level or assembly level, however I always recommend going back to the individual parts and adding the finishes there. To get started let's go ahead and open an assembly that we can work with. Go to File>Open or click on the Open icon at the top of the screen and I'm going to be going to Excercise Files>Chapter 1>1.1 and in that folder I've got an assembly called T1-WD1-20 and…
