In this course, author Dan Ablan walks through the process of understanding the MODO workflow while learning to create 3D models and animations. The course teaches fundamental tasks, such as modeling polygons and applying materials with the Shader Tree, while exploring scene building in depth through advanced lighting, camera, and animation techniques. The course also covers MODO's schematic tools and shows how to render animations for various playback media.
One of the great things about modo is how nicely it plays with other programs in the industry. And there's a lot of times you might have some animation tools that you use in another program that just aren't available in modo, and that's okay, because modo can help you just do the modeling. So if you model in modo, how do you get that to something else? Pretty easy. Well here we've got our full model that we created earlier in the course for this fire extinguisher, and if I go up to the File menu, there is an Export As. And when I choose this, down at the bottom, of course the default is a Luxology scene.
But if I click that I can export it out to LightWave, to X3D, 3DM, COLLADA, which I have used quite a bit, Film Box for Autodesk, and even just standard OBJs. Perhaps you are a fantastic modeler and you are going to start selling your stuff up on TurboSquid or something like that. Well, this is how you can export out all those different formats. So it's really pretty simple to model in modo, then export your model to another format.
