If you are a premium member of lynda. com Online Training Library, or if you are watching this tutorial on a DVD-ROM, then you have access to the exercise files used throughout this title. So let me open the exercise_files folder. The exercise files are laid out according to the chapter. So for each chapter, I have included the exercise files I have used in that chapter. So let's take a look at an example. Essentially the exercise files follow a couple of different conventions.
In some cases you'll see that I have got exercise files labeled _start and _finished. In that case, the finished version contains the fully working example, which you can open in your browser and look at, or open in your code editor to see how it works. And the start version contains the starting point for writing the code necessary to get to the finished state. So if you want to open the start version and follow along with me in each one of the tutorials, you can write the code along with me and arrive at the finished state.
Other files are simply complete examples that we deconstruct during the lesson, so that you can see how they work. For example, this file here is already in the finished state. There is no starting state, and for that particular lesson we simply open the file in the code editor and examine how it was written and why things work the way they do. Now if you are a monthly subscriber or an annual subscriber to lynda.com, you don't have access to these exercise files. But you can follow along from scratch or using your own assets.
