- iBooks Author can be used to create reflowable, standards-compliant, EPUB 3 books, and this is a really big deal. EPUB 3 is an open standard maintained by the International Digital Publishing Forum. You can find out more information about them and read the complete EPUB specifications at idpf.org/epub. To create an ePub with iBooks Author, you must start with an ePub template. iBooks cannot be converted or exported to an ePub format. Otherwise, the process is nearly the same as the one we've been using throughout this course. Let's step through the process and look at the differences. Begin by choosing one of the ePub templates that is available to you. I'll choose the classic ePub by double-clicking it. When the document opens, the interface feels familiar to what we've seen throughout this course. But there are a few differences. The first is the document itself. Notice that we now scroll vertically through the text in a chapter, similar to how a word processing document works…
