Working without a creative brief
Sometimes it's not possible to develop a creative brief that is polished to perfection. Some projects may not include many client meetings and extensive research up front. Yet you still need to get the information contained within a creative brief in order to design. However, there are times when a formal creative briefing session followed by a comprehensive creative brief may not be necessary, but I can only think of two reasons. Which are: the new assignment is a continuation of a larger program that the designer has already been working on. In essence, it's a project that falls within a larger earlier creative brief. You can assume that the existing brief still applies, but make sure to ask your client if indeed your assumption is correct. If anything has changed, or something new needs to be factored in, take a moment to discuss it with your client before design begins.
