Managing to a creative brief

A creative brief is a useful tool for getting all team members ready to work on the project. The designers have the grounding to inform their thinking. The copywighter has messaging information. The production manager has some initial specifications. Project managers have milestones and due dates, and the account executive has met and bonded with all the clients stakeholders. Everyone has what they need to do their job, no matter what their responsibility is. And a proof creative brief gives you and your client a road map. In a sense, it's a pre-approval for your creative. Plus a clear list of deliverables is outlined. Briefs then become a handy document to use in managing the creative process itself. I've recommended that you put a schedule into your creative brief. Note that schedules are often the most changeable aspect of any design project.
