Most people buy computer books to learn, yet it's amazing how few books are written
by teachers. Garrick and I take pride that this book was written by experienced
teachers, who are familiar with training students in this subject matter. In this
book, you'll find carefully developed lessons and exercises to help you learn Dreamweaver
CS3–one of the most capable Web development tools available today.
This book is targeted at the beginning- to intermediate-level Web designers and
Web developers who are looking for a way to get up to speed on the basics of Dreamweaver
CS3 quickly and easily. The premise of the hands-on approach is to get you up to
speed quickly with Dreamweaver CS3 while actively working through the lessons in
this book. It's one thing to read about a program, and another experience entirely
to try the product and achieve measurable results. Our motto is, “Read the
book, follow the exercises, and you'll learn the program.” I have received
countless testimonials, and it is our goal to make sure it remains true for all
our hands-on training books.
This book doesn't set out to cover every single aspect of Dreamweaver CS3, nor does
it try to teach you how to hand code a Web site from scratch. What we saw missing
from the bookshelves was a process-oriented tutorial that teaches readers core principles,
techniques, and tips in a hands-on training format.
I welcome your comments at books-errata@lynda.com. If you run into any trouble while
you're working through this book, check out the technical support link at
http://www.lynda.com/book/dwcs3/errata.aspx.
We hope this book will improve your skills in Dreamweaver CS3 and Web design in
general. If it does, we have accomplished the job we set out to do!
