A Note from Lynda Weinman

Most people buy computer books to learn, yet it's amazing how few books are written by teachers. Todd Perkins and I take pride that this book was written by experienced teachers who are familiar with training students in this subject matter. In this book, you'll find carefully developed lessons and exercises to help you learn Adobe Flash CS3 Professional–one of the most powerful and popular animation and authoring tools for the Web.

This book is targeted to beginning-level and intermediate-level Web designers and Web developers who need a tool for creating powerful, compelling, and highly interactive digital content for the Web. The premise of the hands-on approach is to get you up-to-speed quickly with Flash CS3 while actively working through the lessons in this book. It's one thing to read about a program, and it's another experience entirely to try the product and achieve measurable results. Our motto is, "Read the book, follow the exercises, and you'll learn the program." I have received countless testimonials, and it is our goal to make sure it remains true for all our hands-on training books.

This book doesn't set out to cover every single aspect of the Flash CS3 program, and it doesn't try to teach you everything this extremely powerful application can do. What we saw missing from the bookshelves was a process-oriented tutorial that teaches readers core principles, techniques, and tips in a hands-on training format.

Todd Perkins and I hope this book will improve your skills in Flash. If it does, we have accomplished the job we set out to do!
