Errata

Chapter 7 - Previewing Movies

The movie resolution.mov was left off the CD-ROM during production. Click here to download resolution.mov (2.51MB). We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Chapter 15 - Audio

On some Windows systems, the waveform will not show up. This is a bug in After Effects and we don't know a workaround.

For Windows audio problems with After Effects, you may find this link helpful:

Chapter 16 - Rendering

On some Windows systems, a missing footage alert will appear when you open the rendering.aep project. If this happens to you, click on the twirly for the Footage folder in the Project Window. Double click on the yellow2.jpg document (the title will be in italics) while in the Project Window, which will allow you to browse your hard drive. Navigate to the chap_16 folder that you transferred to your hard drive. Select yellow2.jpg in the Footage folder and click Open. AE will find the other missing footage items.

Making Exercise Files Editable on Windows Systems

On page xxiii and xxv it reads: "the Windows system defaults to write-protected". This is not true for Windows XP. It should read: "With Windows XP, you must drag or copy the folders with the exercise files to your Desktop or hard drive. They will then be editable". They are not editable while on a locked CD.

On page 20 it reads: You will need to unlock the files before you can edit them". This is not true for Windows XP. It should read: "With Windows XP, you must drag or copy the folders with the exercise files to your Desktop or hard drive. They will then be editable".

Movie Files

We have had several reports that the movies called Animated_Blu.mov, Animated_Gre.mov, Animated_Yel.mov, and waving_monkey.mov are not being recognized properly by QuickTime. You can download new versions of these movies here, if you are getting error messages. Replace the movies on your hard drive with these new movies in the appropriate folders, and re-launch After Effects. aehot-fixes.zip (1.3MB)
