Working in a multiple-document environment
One of the best parts about computer drafting is that you never have to draw the same thing twice you can simply reuse geometry over and over again. Fortunately AutoCAD multiple document environment makes it easy to move content from one drawing to another. Let's take a look. On my screen I have an architectural example, this drawing represents the first floor of a single family home. I'm at the point where I'd like to start adding some furniture to this floor plan, and rather than recreating the furniture from scratch. What I'm going to do is open a drawing I worked on a couple weeks ago, one that already has furniture in it. And I'm going to borrow some of that geometry and reuse it in this file. I'll start by opening the other drawing. To do that, I'll move up to the Quick Access Toolbar and click the Open icon. I will then navigate into the Exercise Files folder withing the Managing DWG directory. And I'll select this drawing, FP2 and click Open. At this point, I have two drawings…
