Photoshop Top 40 Countdown with Deke McClelland: #7 – Undo, History, and Revert

The safety-net trio of Undo, History, and Revert protect the intrepid image editor from unexpected disasters. But these commands also let you toggle operations, compare before-and-after images, and move back and forth through time. In this week’s Photoshop Top 40 Countdown, Deke takes us through the features of each by modifying a document using a number of features we’ve learned in previous Top 40 episodes, and then using Undo, History, and Revert to un-modify the document as desired.

The lynda.com story: Lynda shares how it started

Take a seat in the Brooks Institute auditorium with the Santa Barbara chapter of AIGA and enjoy watching Bruce Heavin and Lynda Weinman as they present the history of lynda.com to an audience for the first time. The lynda.com co-founders share stories of how their careers, relationship, and company started and evolved, and how their vision and high standards have brought together a team insistent on excellence. This is an engaging, fascinating inside look into the heart and soul of a recognized leader in software training.

We’ll be posting a few segments of that night’s recordings here on the blog, starting with Lynda sharing some early memories and educational experiences. We invite you to view the entire lynda.com story on lynda.com.

In this video, Lynda opens her heart and shares her earliest recollections: Her childhood, how she discovered an alternative path to education and put herself through school, and how she developed a work ethic that shaped her personal direction and ultimately, the direction of lynda.com.

Ten years ago at lynda.com

The lynda.com web site back in February 2000.

Do you remember what you were doing ten years ago?

Ten years ago at lynda.com, we released our new Learning Flash 4 series on three VHS tapes. That made a total of six courses in our store.

The latest discussions on the message board were about After Effects and Illustrator 9.

One of our more popular polls asked web designers what size browser they were designing for (43% said 800 x 600; 1% said Palm Pilot).

Our lab at the Ojai Digital Arts Center sported 20 400mhz iMacs and 10 PCs running Windows 98, with 16 GB and 6 GB hard drives, respectively.

lynda.com had just launched a job board to help companies fill the ever-growing need for web design professionals.
