This week on Monday Productivity Pointers, I’ll show you how to take screenshots natively with the operating system of the machine you’re working on. By “natively,” I mean that there’s no new app to download—everything you need is already on your system.
The first video this week will focus on taking screenshots on a Windows-based PC, while the second, member-exclusive video will cover the same on a Mac, using a built-in tool called Grab.
Why would you need a screenshot in the first place? And after you get the shot, what can you do with it? For one, a screenshot is a very easy way to show a remote support technician an issue that you’re having with your computer. Sometimes you can be presented with errors and messages on your screen that are hard to describe in words, but a screenshot can capture them beautifully. You can take a snap of whatever you’re working on, and mark up the screenshot to collaborate visually with editors and peers.
I use screenshots as a speedy way to show someone exactly where I am, and what I’m doing on my desktop or browser. Watch the videos, and learn how to share exactly what it is you’re looking at on your computer!
