Drawing Challenge in Action: Day 12

2014_08_20_DrawDay12

Our Design content manager Kristin Ellison takes on our 21-Day Drawing Challenge and lets you see the daily results.

Today Von challenged us to draw representations for Anguish, Curiosity, Hope, and Mystery.

It would have been easy to take the cliché route, but I tried to stay off that path and really think about each of these words and what they meant to me.

The first, Anguish, was easy and immediate. I drew a huge scribble because when I feel that way, a huge scribble is what my insides feel like.

Next, I drew Mystery: a tall fence, because whenever I encounter one, I want desperately to see what’s behind it. Oh, the possibilities!

For Curiosity I chose to go with the definition “a strange or unusual object or fact” rather than “a strong desire to know or learn something.” My curiosity is a “Snailraffe,” which is more of a beast than an object, but that’s what my mind decided to deliver.

Finally, there was Hope. I tried to draw a starfish because they have been dying by the millions up and down the Pacific Coast, and they are seeing evidence of this on the East Coast as well.  I’m just sending out some hope for these magical little creatures.
