This week, Bert continues to explore the digital techniques that went into his painting “Damen.” Today’s tutorial focuses on how to create bolts and rivets from scratch in Adobe Photoshop.
Bert begins creating a new Photoshop document filled with a solid color and then runs a filter on it to provide some texture. Next he creates a circle on a new layer for the first bolt. After creating a few layer styles to flesh out the bolt itself, he duplicates it and alters the light source of the second bolt. Finally Bert explains why you may or may not want to use global light. Get started with this week’s free video, and be sure to check back next week for Bert’s next technique from the Pixel Playground.
