How to Blur Photo Details to Protect Your Privacy

2014-09-08-MPPblur

It’s easy to post pictures on social networks, but sometimes we’re looking at them from such small screens that it’s easy to miss tiny details that can compromise your privacy—or worse, someone else’s.

In this week’s Monday Productivity Pointers, I’ll show you how to easily blur or cover up a small portion of a photo before posting it on a social network.

Get Your Google Calendar by Email Every Morning

2014_08_25_MPPgooglecal2

In many online calendar apps, such as Google Calendar and Outlook.com, you can get a daily email of all your appointments for the day. It’s one email, and it contains a digest view of your entire day.

In this week’s Monday Productivity Pointers, I’ll show you what the email looks like, and how to enable the feature in both Google Calendar as well as Outlook.com.

Screen Shot 2014-08-02 at 11.33.32 AM

A long time ago in Monday Productivity Pointers, I posted a video about a fantastic remote desktop connection app called Crossloop. It was fast, it was easy, and there was absolutely nothing not to love about it. Using a desktop PC, Mac, or tablet, you could easily connect to someone else’s computer and either view it or remote control it.

A few months ago, the makers of Crossloop shut off the service. But today on Monday Productivity Pointers, I bring you a suitable alternative called join.me.

Use Doodle For Easy Group Scheduling

2014_07_28_MPPdoodle

Lots of offices have calendar scheduling systems in place, like Outlook, Google, or Lotus Notes. If you want to schedule a meeting, you can add your list of invitees and see when they’re all available to schedule it. It’s an easy process.

What’s not so easy is when you need to schedule a meeting for a group of people who aren’t on a unified calendar scheduling app.

You know what happens next: The emails start flying around with everyone listing dates they’re available, and dates they’re not. It’s nearly impossible for everyone to wade through each other’s typed-out schedules to find a single date and time when everyone is free—and by the time you find it, one of the guests has suddenly become unavailable again.

In this week’s Monday Productivity Pointers, I’ll show you a website that can help with this process.
