Web/Interactive Design Content Manager & Department Chair
Description:
The Content Manager for the Web/Interactive Design group is responsible for crafting and driving the strategic plan for this key topic area. This includes: creating and managing educational roadmaps and title plans; acquiring courses and other content that serves the Web/Interactive Design audience; delivering on viewership and return-on-investment targets; working with marketing on subscriber outreach; and representing lynda.com in the Web/Interactive Design community including at industry events and with relevant vendors.
In addition to experience building title/course plans and working with and evaluating trainers, the Web/Interactive Design CM should have Web/Interactive Design knowledge and expertise, and a broad professional network in the community.
Web/Interactive Design topics include: Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML, CSS, WordPress, and information architecture.

Principle Accountabilities:
The Content Manager’s role is to develop a thriving area that exceeds the needs of lynda.com subscribers.
- Develop the overall strategic plan for the content area. Follow through with the development and production of high quality content.
- Grow the area’s viewership and content. Increase the overall lynda.com subscriber base. Track, review, and share results.
- Research customer needs and develop and execute plans to meet those needs.
- Create and manage the area’s educational roadmap and title plan.
- Recruit the best possible authors for the area. Nurture author relationships and help them succeed. Negotiate contracts with authors.
- Oversee all area proposals, including the Table of Contents, and P&L.
- Develop relationships with key software product managers to understand and meet customer training needs.
- Communicate with the lynda.com audience through blogs, videos, podcasts, and other online communications regarding content area developments, news, and discussion boards. Makes conference appearances and presentations to help support our business.
- Work with marketing, authors, user groups, and vendors to drive lynda.com visibility in the community.
- Establish an advisory board with content peers/experts at the top of their professions to help plan the educational roadmap, courses, and other content.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the other Content Managers. Provide and request crossover content as needed.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 8+ years or equivalent experience in software product management, publishing, and/or curriculum or training development.
- Web/Interactive Design expertise and a broad network in the community.
- Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated passion for the topic area.
- Management experience and skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to contribute, collaborate, and work “cross-functionally,” across a diverse range of tasks and areas.
