Senior Business Analyst

At the Sr. Business Analyst works within the Data Sciences team and collaborates with assigned functional leads to provide actionable, data-driven insights through research and analysis of data sources and development of reporting and predictive models. This position requires strong business acumen, coupled with the ability to communicate findings to business leaders in a way that influences sound decision-making. This position reports to the Senior Director of Corporate Finance.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Partner closely with marketing and product functional leads to understand key business drivers; provide reporting and analytics that will facilitate informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Develop reporting, forecasting, and predictive models using strategic business understanding to ask the right questions and find the right answers.
  • Explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources in order to identify, provide reporting on, and analyze trends in the KPIs as well as regular reporting for assigned departments.
  • Work closely with Data Scientists to prepare technical specifications for data and reporting needs – assist with QA and testing of new data.
  • Assist assigned departments with semi-annual budgeting and forecasting efforts - build and maintain budgeting/forecasting models for marketing and product functions and provide regular reporting, analysis, and insights against these models.
  • Research and gather data for industry benchmarking and sound business decision-making.
  • Provide department specific ROI analysis that will lead to improved productivity.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Experience and qualifications:
  • MBA or Masters degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field, or Bachelors degree with equivalent relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of business analytics experience with an on-line, B2C company
  • Strong predictive modeling skills as well as business strategy skills to identify issues and solve business problems
  • Statistical and mathematical modeling skills a strong plus
  • Must have a sound understanding of business needs and strategy, exemplary analytical problem solving skills, and a strong knowledge of business analytics tools
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel as well as working knowledge of database queries
  • Prior experience developing budgeting and forecasting models
  • Requires strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A driving curiosity to understand the key drivers and leverage points of the business and to research and analyze potential solutions

Mental requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, to speak and hear, and to frequently use hands and arms to handle, feel, and to reach. Specific vision requirements of this job include the ability to see closely and adjust focus. The work environment is an office setting or home office and the noise in the work environment is usually quiet.
