Build and Release Engineer

Web Development | Calabasas, CA, United States | Share is currently seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, experienced Build and Release Engineer. The Build and Release Engineer works as part of a team, with responsibility for the successful day-to-day operational support of the development team and successful code deployments.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Write automated shell scripts to configure and maintain different environments used throughout the SDLC.
  • Build, configure, and deploy software updates on servers.
  • Perform software code branching, and code merge-related duties.
  • Troubleshoot build, configuration, and installation errors.
  • Create and run performance tests.
  • Author documentation of build and release processes.

Experience and qualifications:

At Least 3 of the following:

  • 2 years of experience administering Windows or Linux systems
  • 2 years of experience working with a variety of open source and commercial tools used as a part of continuous integration workflow; Jenkins, Git/Github, Octopus preferred
  • 2 years of experience writing automated shell scripts to build, configure, and deploy software, Powershell preferred, but other scripting languages are acceptable
  • 1 year of experience building and configuring .NET applications in a professional work environment
  • 1 year of experience configuring and maintaining open source applications, Memcached, Solr, RabbitMQ preferred
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proven experience with Agile methodologies
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with rapid software development and release cycles
  • A strong understanding of SCM principles and best practices
  • Experience developing auditable, repeatable, and predictable processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, to speak and hear, and to frequently use hands and arms to handle, feel, and to reach. Specific vision requirements of this job include the ability to see closely and adjust focus. The work environment is an office setting or home office and the noise in the work environment is usually quiet.
