If you are painting using the 2.5D Startup Brushes down here, and you find that your strokes are mysteriously disappearing, it's possible that they have actually flipped behind the canvas. Let me demonstrate this using the Sphere Brush. So I'm just going to paint a stroke on the canvas. I have decided that I actually want to reposition this stroke in space. So I switch to the Move tool and it disappears. The reason is, is that it's actually gone behind the canvas. To bring it back with Move activated, I can start dragging down on the canvas, and this will bring it forward, and eventually there we will see it. It pops into view.
If I move it back and forth slowly, you can see what's going on. So I'm dragging upwards to move it back and it's actually going behind the canvas. So that's how you bring the stroke back if it suddenly disappears when you switch to move it.
