Video: Adding a logo image

Here we are on our channel page for Kinetico, and I want to work through all of the different things that you can add to a channel page to ultimately flesh out our channel page. Till we have one that, that looks custom, and is successful for marketing purposes. All of the instructions, all of the links to do these things are found here, especially when you're building the channel. They will disappear from here and you can also do them down in you channel controls. But for right now everything is available here or if you roll over, you can see edit.

Adding a logo image

Here we are on our channel page for Kinetico, and I want to work through all of the different things that you can add to a channel page to ultimately flesh out our channel page. Till we have one that, that looks custom, and is successful for marketing purposes. All of the instructions, all of the links to do these things are found here, especially when you're building the channel. They will disappear from here and you can also do them down in you channel controls. But for right now everything is available here or if you roll over, you can see edit.

Edit doing any of those places, so I just click the little pencil on what's called our channel icon and here you see it's preselected to upload an image. We can also choose a still from one of our YouTube videos that's already been uploaded Or we can choose the default image which is the silovette that's already there. So we are going to choose a file and that we provided this file and it says that the details here are important it can be any of these file types but not an animated gif not allowed.

And if it's not perfectly square, the edges will be chopped off. Also, the recommendation is to upload at 800 pixels by 800 pixels. And of course, don't put fake people, nudity, this sort of thing. what I found as I was playing this, which I do a lot, was that if you're not perfectly at 800 by 800, but your logo is in good shape, it, it works pretty well anyway, with the crop. So it's fairly easy to go ahead and Photoshop or in an Image editing program and make a perfect 800 by 800 pixel image.

But I, I didn't actually bother because I was interested in how it would interpret something that was not perfect. Sometimes that's more interesting. So, that's what we provided here. And if you look in the exercise files, we have logo.tif which is one of our accepted file types but it is not our perfect 800 by 800. Just for experimental purposes it would be pretty easy to go in and make this perfect but I chose not to. And now we will save the changes, and it will upload that file. Okay, and as you see, we now have a lovely KinetEco logo on our channel page. And it is also replaced our avatar image.

So anywhere you see a KinetEco video now, you will see their logo, which is attractive. I will say on the issue of cropping, that this technique does not allow us to micro-manage the size in the box or the exact position. If you're not pleased with the way this turned out off of the large import, you do want to go ahead and start a Photoshop project at 800 by 800 and position it perfectly there. Having a channel icon especially as a logo for a company is an important part of marketing for consistency.

So, I actually think that uploading a logo and I do think a logo is much better than a person for marketing purposes and I think this is one of the most important things you can do on your channel page. So go ahead and get your logo up there right as you begin your process of implementing youTube to your marketing plan
