This course shows how to create a mobile version of an existing WordPress web site by leveraging ready-made solutions. Author Morten Rand-Hendriksen demonstrates how to install and configure three different plugins: WP Mobile Detector, which automatically detects the visitor's mobile device type and displays an auto-formatted theme; WPtouch, which transforms a site into an iPhone application-style theme with just a few clicks; and the WordPress Mobile Pack toolkit for making more fine-tuned adjustments. Morten also covers modifying the appearance of the mobile site and tracking its analytics and other stats. This course offers a variety of ways to get a stylish and nimble mobile site up and running quickly, without having to edit any code.
Hi, I am Morten Rand-Hendriksen, and I am here to show you some mobile plug-ins for your WordPress site. Welcome to WordPress Mobile Solutions. In this course, we will take a close look at some different plug-ins you can use to quickly make your WordPress powered site mobile friendly. First, we'll take a look at the WordPress Mobile Pack plug-in that allows you to switch themes depending on whether the visitor is using a mobile device or a regular computer, and that provides you with some basic mobile themes. Then we will look at the WP Mobile Detector plug-in, which provides similar functionality to the WordPress Mobile Pack, but in a different package and with different results.
And finally, we'll look at the free version of the popular WPtouch plug-in, which gives you a modern looking customizable mobile theme. If you have a web site these days it needs to be mobile friendly. I am here to help you make that happen. So let's get cracking with WordPress Mobile Solutions.
