Using Shopify, you don't need any technical expertise to sell your products or services online. And with Shopify's Widgets app, you can integrate a Shopify store into an existing WordPress site and make it an automatic ecommerce platform. Morten Rand-Hendriksen shows how to leverage the powers of the self-hosted versions of WordPress and Shopify in one clean and functional package. After reviewing the install process, Morten shows how to start adding products to your site with the three different Shopify widgets. He'll also show a workflow for importing existing Shopify products into WordPress, and create a custom template for displaying product details.
Hi, I'm Morten Rand-Hendriksen, staff author at lynda.com, and welcome to WordPress Ecommerce: Integrating Shopify. In this course we'll look at how to integrate a Shopify store and its products, into an existing, self hosted WordPress site. By doing this, we can leverage the best of both services. Use Shopify for e-commerce and secure transactions and use WordPress for blogging and marketing.
We'll start out by looking at how to set up your Shopify store and WordPress site so they work together. Then we'll install the Shopify widgets app and add products to our WordPress site using the three different widgets available. And finally, I'll show you how you can import your Shopify products right into WordPress and build custom templates to displace the product's info in any way you want. So let's get cracking with WordPress Ecommerce: Integrating Shopify.
