If you used previous versions of Microsoft Word you know how the default Print button on the toolbar works. You click it and nothing happens on your screen and your entire document shows up printed at your default printer. Well that is exactly what Quick Print is. So let's do it. First of all you'll need this document open on your screen. This is newsletter from our Lesson 3 folder. If you need to go get it, click your Office button, click the Open button and navigate to the Lesson 3 folder of your exercise files, and that's where you'll find newsletter and you'll open it up.
I've already got it open, so I'm going to click Cancel. So this is the document that I want to send quickly to my printer and I know what you're thinking, and I was thinking it too when I first got acquainted with Word 2007. There is no Print button. We look around up here on the ribbon, there's no print button. Nothing on the Quick Access toolbar. So how is it a quick print if you have to click three times to get there? Well don't you worry. We'll be talking about modifying the Quick Access toolbar a little later in this title but we'll take care of the quick print feature right away.
So first let's go through the Office button. We'll click the Office button, we'll go down to Print and move over to the right and you can see Quick Print right here in the middle. We'll give it a click. So I get this dialog box showing up, and it's kind of smart of Word to tell me that the margins of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page. Do I want to continue? So I could click No here and go and fix that or if I click Yes, It's simply going to print at the way you see it on the screen and it may get cut off on the left hand side. So I'll click no.
I'll zoom out here. Let's zoom out to about 100% and you can see that looks like it probably will be okay. So lets try Quick Print again but this time, maybe it should show up here on our Quick Access toolbar. So what I'd like you is just to go to the very far right. There's a drop-down button next to the Quick Access toolbar for customizing it. We'll give that a click and you can see anything that's checked off is currently on the Quick Access toolbar and anything that's not, like Quick Print is not there.
So we'll click on Quick Print. You'll notice now we've got that printer icon on our Quick Access toolbar. So give it a click. We'll see the same dialog box, but this time we'll answer Yes to continue and off it goes to our default printer. And that's it. We're done. So from now on when you want a print your entire document to your default printer, or you want to print to a different printer or maybe select pages, we'll look at print options next.
