So, in the world of controlled lighting, you use a variety of grip tools to shape and sculpt the light to only go where you want it go. >> I think one of the most common ones that's easy to use is going to be a flag. And these are essentially a piece of fabric in a frame, or it could be a card, but basically you're blocking the light so that it doesn't spill over. So, you're essentially putting up a barrier to cut the light off. >> Right, our principle tool of creating mood with lighting is the flag, or the scrim, or the net, or the silk.
