Compromise

All of these things ultimately end up with some sort of compromise. As the director, I need to be able to convey what I think is best for the story. If I'm in the producer role, I need to be thinking about the schedule and the budget. Sometimes, that's the same responsibility. As the Director of Photography Jim, you're ultimately trying to serve the story while also serving the client. How do you reach compromise? What are some things where you sort of, say, it's time to stop arguing? >> Well, I would argue that I would also be concerned with things like budget and time and schedule. That, I, as much as I would like to be insulated from all of the unsavory parts of, of our business, that is part of my business. I, I'm not operating in a vacuum. But at the same time my task is, is to deliver something pleasing and satisfactory to everybody.
