Professional film making gear is very expensive. Even a modest, small student video package of camera, lights and audio can easily top $10,000 to $15,000. And for larger projects and features the total equipment value will likely be many times that. Now, most people couldn't afford to pay for or even charge to replace a stolen van full of professional film gear. I don't care if you've got the titanium Visa card.
