Getting on the plane
- I've had good luck thus far in the occasions I have had to fly lenses in a well-foamed out Pelican case, but I'm always paranoid about something getting broken or stolen in the check case. So whenever possible for peace of mind, and just practicality in case anything underneath does get lost, or stolen in transit, I recommend checking your clothes and personal items under the plane, and bringing your basic camera kit, laptop, media, lenses, and other sensitive equipment on the plane with you in carry-on bags. There are a wide variety of carry-on camera bags, but my personal favorite is a rolling camera backpack. Anytime I can roll equipment rather than carry it, I try to do so. The backpack option of the bag comes in handy when my hands are full with other gear, or I need to travel light for some run and gun shooting. Now let's talk about getting on the plane.
