This course introduces the features of the V-Ray 2.0 rendering engine and demonstrates how to extend the range of Maya with its state-of-the-art tools, such as irradiance mapping, fur and hair textures and shaders, and stereoscopic 3D rendering. The course covers critical concepts such as creating basic materials, image sampling, color mapping, subdivs, and lighting, as well as the Render Elements, RT, and physical rendering workflows in V-Ray. Hello, and welcome to V-Ray 2.0 for Maya Essential Training. My name is Brian Bradley, and I'm going to be guiding you through this breakdown of the essential tools and features found in the V-Ray for Maya render engine. In this course, we will be showing you how to install and set up V-Ray, as well as locate V-Ray tools and controls in the Maya UI. We will look at some of the V-Ray specific light types available to us, and break down V-Ray's versatile global illumination engines.
We will make use of the all important V-Ray materials, to re-create some useful material type, such as cloth, reflective metals, and glass. Then we will put some of V-Ray's effects tools to work, creating powerful in render effects, such as depth of field, motion blur, and caustics. If you're ready to build up your rendering skills, let's go ahead and dive right in.
