Video: Additional resources

Before sharing my final thoughts with you, I just want to comment that the past few years has seen a remarkable increase in color correction resources dedicated to both the teaching the software and the craft of color grading. If you want to learn more about SpeedGrade or just color correction in general, here are a few of my favorite resources. First for more information on speed grade itself from within the app press F1 and that'll take you to its product page on Adobe's website. From there you can find a slew of additional training videos, blog posts and the speed grade forum.

The coolest part about the SpeedGrade forum, the active participation of the SpeedGrade development team. Now another active SpeedGrade forum is the one on creativecow.net which is a user helping user forum. Next, if you enjoyed the format of these videos, check out the color grading membership website that I co-founded with two other professional colorists, Mixinglight.com. Our insights library has a growing collection of speed grade articles, plus tips on the business side of color correction and plenty of talk about gear and hardware.

Now if you'd like something that's akin to a reference manual on speed grade, my friend and colleague Alexis Van Hurkman has a great and in depth book Adobe SpeedGrade CC classroom in a book. If you're serious about SpeedGrade, you want this book. For general color correction book learning I have got two book recommendations for you. The first is the color correction handbook again by Alexis Van Hurkman and then coming in a close second, the art and technique of digital color correction by Steve Hullfish.

This book is in its second edition and if you want to stay on top of the color correction industry on a weekly basis. I personally produce a free newsletter about color correction and finishing its called the Ta Colors Newsletter and it's hosted on my other website taoofcolor.com. Its a free sign up and delivers most Sunday mornings. Finally as you use SpeedGrade, you'll no doubt find new features you'd like to see implemented or you'll stumble across bugs that need fixing.

In that case, you'll want to head over to Adobe's feature request and bug reporter form. It's the single best way of influencing the development team to create the color-grading app you'd like it to be. By jumping on SpeedGrade right now, you're one of the new wave of creatives learning the value of color correction and learning it through the power of SpeedGrade CC.
